With a deep-seated commitment toward environmental responsibility, Utah-based Aptive Environmental is expanding its philanthropic reach into the education sector as it turns its generosity toward TGR Foundation and the Earl Woods Scholar Program.

As the academic year begins, TGR Foundation is proud to announce that two exemplary Earl Woods Scholars, Jesse Aguirre and Kayla Fisher, will benefit from the financial support of Aptive Environmental throughout their four years of college.

“What’s truly admirable about Aptive Environmental is that they operate from a place of service, giving back where and how they can,” said TGR Foundation President and CEO Rick Singer. “We are grateful for their generosity, and with Aptive’s ongoing support, we will continue to help Earl Woods Scholars like Jesse and Kayla thrive in college and beyond.”

A Southern California native, Jesse Aguirre will soon head east and begin his freshman year at Boston College this fall. Growing up with parents who suffer from chronic illnesses, Jesse knew early on he wanted to pursue a career in medicine. With plans to major in neuroscience, and a long-term goal of becoming a neurosurgeon, Jesse is committed to building a life where he can offer relief and help to those in need.

“I want to help children from low income families and difficult backgrounds find their true meaning in this world through academic and personal guidance,” shared Jesse. “I plan to use my education to create health programs in my parents’ home country of Guatemala where professional medical and educational assistance are difficult to receive or come by.”

Growing up in Washington, D.C. with the guidance of a single-mother, Kayla Fisher is nothing short of determined. She will begin her freshman year in New York at the University of Rochester. A self-proclaimed science nerd, Kayla is contemplating a path in either the medical or science field, with a strong interest in forensic pathology.

“All my life I have been an outcast for never giving in to societies status quo of who they think I should be, but I have always stayed true to who I am: nerdy, mysterious and a science geek,” said Kayla. “Through all of my adversities, the Earl Woods Scholar Program has been there every step of the way, encouraging and uplifting me. Being an Earl Woods Scholar not only guarantees financial aid, but it gives me a certain type of support and guidance. It means having infinite possibilities.”

Aptive Environmental CEO Vess Pearson had an opportunity to connect with founder Tiger Woods on the golf course this year, learning more about the scholars, students and the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and college-access programs unique to TGR Foundation.

“We are passionate about education and believe that it is key to overcoming some of the world’s biggest challenges.” said Pearson. “As a company, we employ many college students who are working to build a brighter future for their own lives and for the global community. We are proud to work alongside Tiger Woods and TGR Foundation to continue to empower students as they pursue their passions through education.”

TGR Foundation is deeply grateful and honored to have Aptive Environmental as a partner in our mission. Together, we are supporting and guiding students to reach and surpass their full potential.
