After the third round of the Deutsche Bank Championship, Russell Henley finds himself at the top of a close leaderboard that features low scores aplenty and has the potential to swing in any direction on Labor Day.
With an air-tight leaderboard after the third round of play, Russell Henley turned in a six-under-par performance to grab hold of first place with a cumulative score of -12. Following right behind in second place is Billy Horschel, who finished at -11 and stands in front of three players tied for third place at one-under – Chris Kirk, Rory McIlroy and Jason Day. Kirk and McIlroy, who both ended Round 2 at three strokes under par, continue to score hand-in-hand, firing third-round-best 64s on Sunday.
Following closely behind is Webb Simpson at -9, while four players, including Keegan Bradley and Ryan Palmer, are tied for seventh at -8 and five players, including the likes of Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth and Bill Haas, are close behind at -7. With multiple high-profile players in contention to claim the Wedgwood Trophy on the PGA TOUR’s only Monday finish, the final round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs’ second leg will be nothing short of thrilling.
