Chairman, Mike Mckee

The Contrarian Group
Mr. McKee has served as a principal of The Contrarian Group, a private equity firm, since 2018. He served as a director of HCP, Inc. a publicly traded real estate investment trust, from 1989 to 2018, as executive chairman of HCP from 2016 to 2018 and, during 2016, he also served as interim chief executive officer and president of HCP. From 2010 to 2016, Mr. McKee was chief executive officer of Bentall Kennedy (U.S.), a registered real estate investment advisor. He also served as the chief executive officer of The Irvine Company, a privately held real estate development and investment company, from 2007 to 2008, as vice chairman of its board of directors from 1999 to 2008, and as an executive officer of that company since 1994. Prior to that, he was a partner with the law firm of Latham & Watkins LLP from 1986 to 1994. Mr. McKee is also the Chairman of Realty Income Corporation and the TGR Foundation. He previously served as a director of Mandalay Resort Group, Irvine Apartment Communities, Inc. and Oasis Residential Inc. Mr. McKee brings to the Board significant operating and executive management experience. This experience, combined with Mr. McKee’s extensive background in the real estate industry, facilitates the Board’s oversight of the Foundation’s operations and enhances its ability to assess strategic opportunities.

Sandra Barry

Formerly Anaheim Unified School District

Sandra Barry enjoyed a successful public education career working in several school districts in Orange County, California, including Buena Park and Anaheim. After teaching for nine years at the junior high and elementary levels, Mrs. Barry spent over 20 years asAssistant and Deputy Superintendent of Educational Services and eight years as Superintendent. Through these experiences, Mrs. Barry developed many critical competencies of outstanding leadership that make her a much sought-after consultant, executive coach, and interim superintendent by school districts throughout California. Mrs. Barry has worked closely with teachers, administrators, classified employees, boards of education, parents, and community partners in the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of a variety of curricular, student, and family programs, projects, and services. Her success in these many efforts was largely due to her ability to build strong relationships with people and to focus on what matters most. Mrs. Barry empowered others to use their skills, knowledge, talents, perspectives, and ideas to accomplish the mission of the school and district. Mrs. Barry possesses many critical competencies including creating motivating and emotional environmentsthat foster innovation and all-out performance, communicating effectively, and exhibiting a sense of constancy and caring. Since retirement, she has coached cabinetlevel educators as well as human resource, finance, and education directors. Mrs. Barry earned her undergraduate degree in English and French from Nebraska Wesleyan University and her masters in curriculum and instruction from California State University, Fullerton.

Alexis Ohanian

Founder of Seven Seven Six
Alexis Kerry Ohanian is an American Internet entrepreneur and investor. He is best known as the co-founder and executive chairman of the social news website Reddit. He also co-founded the early-stage venture capital firm Initialized Capital, helped launch Hipmunk, a travel search website,and started Breadpig, a social enterprise. He was also a partner at Y Combinator. After leaving Reddit in 2010, Ohanian spent three months working in micro-finance as a Kiva fellow in Yerevan, Armenia. In June 2010, he announced the launch of his company Das Kapital Capital, which focuses on startup investing, advising and consulting. Alexis was named the “Ambassador to the East” for his early stage venture firm Y Combinator. In this position, he meets with East Coast applicants, mentors New York YC founders, and is a general representative for the company. He also held the role of part-time partner and full-time partner at Y Combinator, before leaving in 2016 to help launch the third Initialized Capital fund with Garry Tan.

Kenneth W. Bentley

Kenneth Bentley spent 31 years as the Vice President of Community Affairs and Workforce Diversity for Nestle USA. He is currently Vice Chairman of the board of governors of Farmers Insurance Company’s Fire Exchange. Bentley received his B.A. in Comparative Cultures from the University of California Irvine and a Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands. Bentley serves on the board of the TGR Foundation, Harold and Carole Pump Foundation, Arthur Ashe Learning Center and is a member of the World Golf Foundation Diversity Committee.

Jonathan M. Orszag

Compass Lexecon, LLC
Jonathan Orszag is a Senior Managing Director and member of the Executive Committee at Compass Lexecon, LLC. As a consultant, Orszag has conducted economic and financial analyses on a wide range of complex issues in antitrust, regulatory, policy, and litigation matters for corporations and public-sector entities. These engagements have involved a wide array of mergers and other economic matters in various markets, such as the sports, media, telecommunications, retail, healthcare, financial services, and high-tech industries. He has testified before the United States Congress, U.S. and international courts, the European Court of First Instance, and U.S. and international regulatory authorities on competition and economic policy issues. Prior to entering the private sector, Orszag served as the Assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and Director of the Office of Policy and Strategic Planning. In this capacity, Orszag was the Secretary of Commerce’s chief policy adviser and was responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of policy initiatives, from telecommunications issues to international trade issues. Previously, Orszag served as an Economic Policy Advisor on President Clinton’s National Economic Council. In 1999, the Corporation for Enterprise Development awarded Orszag its leadership award for “forging innovative public policies to expand economic opportunity in America.” In addition to his work at Compass Lexecon, Orszag teaches antitrust analysis at the University of California at Los Angeles. He is also an independent member of the board of directors of JMP Group, Inc. He is involved in several philanthropic activities, including serving on the board of directors of the Friends of the Global Fight Against AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria and on the TGR Foundation’s Board of Governors. Orszag received a M.Sc. from Oxford University, which he attended as a Marshall Scholar. He graduated summa cum laude in Economics from Princeton University, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and was named a USA Today All-USA College Academic Team. He is also a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy.

Tech entrepreneur and philanthropist Danny Conway joined the TGR Foundation’s board in 2014 and brought with him unlimited insights and guidance. With an impressive run at some of Silicon Valley’s most successful startups, including Facebook, Airtime and Snocap, Conway currently manages TechFellow Fund, an investment program to honor those who make great innovation happen. His passion for nurturing the innovators of tomorrow extends to our very own Earl Woods Scholars, as he sets out to begin his new role as a mentor.

Karina Hamilton is a partner at Holthouse, Carlin & Van Trigt (HCVT) in Irvine, CA. She is a highly experienced professional with over 30 years of legal and non-profit experience. Karina graduated from Stanford University, holds a J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law at UC Berkeley, practiced corporate law at Allen Matkins, and served as corporate counsel for Pioneer Electronics. Before joining HCVT, Karina was the Director of Students Affairs Scholarship and Special Projects at the University of California, Irvine. Active in the community, Karina is one of the founders of Sage Hill School, an independent high school in Orange County. In addition to serving on the TGR Foundation board, Karina also serves on the board for the El Sol Academy Foundation who supports an innovative K-8 public charter school in Santa Ana, CA.

Mark Steinberg

Excel Sports Management
Mark Steinberg is a sports agent who has been representing top golfers since 1992. He is a partner at Excel Sports Management, where he heads the professional golf division. Established in 2002, Excel Sports Management is a full-service sports management and marketing agency representing athletes in professional basketball, baseball and golf. On June 6, 2011, Tiger Woods announced he would be following Steinberg to Excel. Since that announcement, Steinberg has continued to build his division, including signing three-time PGA Tour winner Matt Kuchar, Danielle Kang, and LPGA golfer Annika Sorenstam. Previously, he led the global golf division of IMG, another esteemed sports agency. While there, Steinberg shaped the careers of many golfers, including Tiger Woods, Steve Stricker and Annika Sörenstam. Steinberg has represented Tiger Woods since 1998. As the agent for Tiger Woods, Steinberg has been described as “the de facto chief executive of Tiger’s golf and endorsement empire” and among the “three or four most powerful people in golf”. In addition to serving on the TGR Foundation Board of Governors, Steinberg also serves on the Annika Sörenstam Foundation Board and Cleveland Sports Commission. Mr. Steinberg is an alumnus of the University of Illinois.

Christopher J. Hubman

Hubman is the Chief Financial Officer of ETW Corp.As the CFO of Tiger Woods’ corporation, he is responsible for overseeing all areas of financial planning and management. He has been a member of Team Tiger since Tiger began playing professionally in August 199 Prior to joining ETW Corp, he was employed at Investment Advisors International and Ernst & Young. Hubman attended The Ohio State University and earned a B.S. in Business Administration.

Leo Tucker

Northwestern Mutual
Leo Tucker began his career with Northwestern Mutual 27 years ago. Early in his career, he quickly distinguished himself as a leader with a thriving team as Field Director and Managing Director in Florida. Prior to his tenth year, he accepted a role with Northwestern Mutual’s Home Office in Milwaukee as the Assistant Regional Director , a position that prepares talented candidates for Managing Partner Assignments. In 2003, Tucker was appointed the Managing Partner in Washington DC and in his time with the firm, it has tripled in both size and production. Leo currently serves on the board of the TGR Foundation, the American College, and the Washington Area Women’s Foundation. Leo’s fundraising efforts on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society led him to receive the 2013 Man of the Year honor for the LLS National Capital Chapter and in 2012, Leo was listed as one of Washington DC’s Top 25 Minority Business Owners. He attended Nova Southeastern University and University of California, Berkely.

Rob Light

Rob Light is the Head of Music, a partner, and managing director of renowned entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Under his leadership, CAA’s music department represents many of the world’s most popular and talented musical artists and comedians Light oversees all of CAA’s music agents, providing strategic counsel on concert tours and event bookings worldwide, as well as advising clients on their overall career development. Following six years at International Creative Management, Light joined CAA in 1984. He was named Head of Music in 1998 and appointed to CAA’s management board in 2001. Under his visionary leadership, Light has led the CAA’s expansion into Nashville, New York City, and London, which marked the first time a full-service agency established an international presence. This expansion helped CAA become the preeminent talent agency for musicians and comedians in the U.S. and abroad. Light was honored as “Agent of the Year” in trade publications Pollstar and Performance Magazine in 1986, 1988, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 2001, and 2003. The CAA music department was awarded “Agency of the Year” by Pollstar for 12 consecutive years, and “Booking Agency of the Year” by Billboard for seven of the past 10 years. Additionally, Light was ranked No. 9 in Billboard’s 2015 Power 100 feature. He was the 2004 Children’s Choice Award recipient from the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Project, and was honored in 2013 by City of Hope with the Spirit of Life Award. He serves on the Syracuse University Board of Trustees and is a board member for The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Communities in Schools, and the TGR Foundation.

Peter V. Ueberroth

The Contrarian Group
Peter Victor Ueberroth is an American sports and business executive known for his involvement with the Olympics and Major League Baseball. A Los Angeles-based businessman, he was the chairman of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee which brought the games to Los Angeles in 1984 Under Ueberroth’s leadership and management, the first privately financed Olympic Games became the genesis for the current International and US Olympic sponsorship programs and recorded a surplus of nearly $240 million dollars. The unprecedented profits were used by Peter to endow the U.S. Olympic Committee, the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles, and each of the national governing bodies. For the operational, political, and financial success of the Games, he was named 1984 Man of the Year by Time Magazine. For the next five years, Ueberroth served as the Commissioner of Major League Baseball. When he began this assignment, 22 of the League’s teams were losing money. At the end of his term, all of the baseball teams were profitable. With a proven track record of taking on a crisis and turning it into success, Ueberroth was appointed by Mayor Tom Bradley and Governor Pete Wilson to lead the Rebuild LA Project in the aftermath of the 1992 Los Angeles riots. In 2004, the Olympic movement called him back to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the United States Olympic Committee.Peter restored financial accountability, credibility, and respect to the USOC during his four-year term. In addition to these examples of crisis management success stories, Peter currently leads successful ventures through his company the Contrarian Group which included the purchase of the Pebble Beach Company, bringing it back to U.S. ownership.

With an impressive tenure as a CPA and partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers spanning 35 years, Edward Machir joined the TGR Foundation’s Board of Directors in 2013, where he currently serves on the Audit Committee. A graduate of Georgetown University and an ardent supporter of the Earl Woo Scholarship Program, Machir has dedicated much of his time over the years as an EWS mentor to two fellow Georgetown University students. Recently retired,, he continues to share his wealth of knowledge and years of expertise in auditing and accounting with students as a professor in practice at the McDonough School of Business at his alma mater.

Bill Woodley

Peter Victor Ueberroth is an American sports and business executive known for his involvement with the Olympics and Major League Baseball. A Los Angeles-based businessman, he was the chairman of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee which brought the games to Los Angeles in 1984 Most recently, Bill was the CEO of Deutsche Bank Americas and DB USA Corporation, the firm’s US Intermediate Holding Company. Prior roles included: Deputy CEO of Deutsche Bank Americas, Global Chief Operating Officer, Regional Management, and Group Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific region. Bill has extensive business and operational experience across strategic, risk management, and regulatory issues. Bill also worked for many years in the Equities divisions for both Deutsche Bank and NatWest Markets. Mr. Woodley has previously been an Executive Board member of the Institute of the International Bankers (IIB) and on the Supervisory Board of The Clearing House. As CEO of TGR Foundation, Cyndi Court has executive responsibility for the Foundation’s programs and outreach, leading the nonprofit organization as it carries out its mission to empower students to pursue their passions through education.

Court is a seasoned nonprofit professional with more than 25 years of experience in education, youth development, marketing and fundraising with individuals, foundations and corporations. She has significant experience leading national nonprofits focused on serving young people from under-resourced communities. Prior to joining TGR Foundation, Court was the chief development officer at Berry College where she oversaw all development, philanthropic communications, alumni engagement and a comprehensive capital campaign, which included the renovation and construction of new academic facilities. She also created and endowed a scholarship program for students experiencing challenging circumstances including significant financial need and created opportunities for diverse students in STEM with corporate partners. Her experience also includes roles as the chief marketing and development officer of Special Olympics International and executive vice-president, resource development and marketing at Boys & Girls Clubs of America. During her time with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, she worked with Major League Baseball and Henry and Billye Aaron to endow the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation program for youth.

A Canadian by birth, Court holds a bachelor’s degree in English and history as well as a Bachelor of Education from York University in Toronto Canada. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her husband, Doug, and their three children.

She held the position of Senior Vice President of Development for Susan G. Komen, where her visionary leadership resulted in the creation of the groundbreaking More Than Pink Walk. Her expertise in orchestrating corporate cause campaigns, brand partnerships, event strategy, major giving, and mission-based fundraising is nothing short of extraordinary.

Prior to her role at Susan G. Komen, Christina played pivotal roles at iconic organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of America and National 4-H Council, where she consistently led revenue generation initiatives.  Known for her innate ability to breathe new life into brands through strategic partnerships with charitable causes, Christina has brought the missions of organizations to the forefront. Her work in corporate brand partnerships, brand activation, and brand sponsorship has left an indelible mark on the nonprofit sector, elevating the impact of these organizations and the brands they partner with.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Christina is a passionate advocate for the empowerment of women and women-owned businesses. As the co-founder of the LeadHERship Global podcast, she has fostered a thriving community that empowers and supports women across sectors and industries. Jin Thatcher currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the TGR Foundation, a non-profit youth organization founded by Tiger Woods in 1996. She joined the Foundation in 2003, spearheading the construction and development of the Tiger Woods Learning Center, a $25 million dollar capital project over 14 acres and a 35,000 square foot youth education facility located in Anaheim, California.

The project direction included serving as a liaison to architects, designers, consultants and contractors; working in conjunction with city, county and State officials to obtain permits; as well as managing the development of the education programming, fundraising campaigns, staff recruitment and budgets.

Since the opening of the TGR Learning Lab in February of 2006, Mrs. Thatcher’s role with the Foundation has evolved to include operations and administration over all the Foundation facilities expansions into in Washington DC, Boston, Florida and California. Each new market included new staffing, fundraising development, and relationship building specific to its geographic location

Specific duties include overall management and operations of all the Foundation’s company-wide policies, business operations, financial planning, and expanding human capital. In addition to the development and implementation of long-term goals strategic plans for the growth of philanthropic fundraising for the company’s growth. Additionally, Mrs. Thatcher provides oversight of the company’s fiscal responsibilities which includes budgeting, fundraising, annual audits and financial reporting; and leadership of day-to-day organizational needs.

As the President of TGR Learning Labs and National Programs for TGR Foundation, Hrag Hamalian oversees all education programming for the nonprofit organization nationwide. He leads an experienced team of programs staff and instructors who deliver high-quality educational programming to students from under-resourced communities.

Hamalian is a dynamic leader in education, with more than 20 years of experience in K-12 and higher education along with development and program expansion. Prior to joining TGR Foundation, Hamalian previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Bright Star Schools. In this role he strategically grew Bright Star Schools from four to nine schools and created a community-based schools model that provides a transitional kindergarten to 12th grade education, plus 6 years of higher education support, for over 3,500 students across Los Angeles.
Prior to his time at Bright Star, Hamalian founded Valor Academy Middle School, a high performing 5th through 8th grade charter public school in Los Angeles. In 2013, Hrag helped lead the strategic merger of Valor and Bright Star, the first merger between two successful charter organizations in Los Angeles.

In 2011, Hamalian was the recipient of Boston College’s prestigious Gold Award, honoring him as alumnus of the decade. He holds a double-major bachelor’s degree from Boston College in biology and honors English, a master’s degree in secondary education from Loyola Marymount University, and a master’s in business administration from UCLA.
Hamalian is a Broad Academy Fellow, Aspen Institute Fellow, an Achievement First Accelerator Fellow, a Building Excellent Schools Fellow, and a Teach for America Corps Member. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for ExEd and Building Excellent Schools.
