TGR Foundation announced the appointment of Shante Carter as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, Business Administration.

In this role, Carter will be responsible for guiding the organization’s financial health and operational effectiveness. Reporting to CEO Cyndi Court, she will serve on the Foundation’s senior management team, providing strategic and hands-on leadership in finance, human resources, information technology and facilities management.   

“As we expand our footprint across the country, Shante’s experience with multi-location organizations will help us ensure sustainable growth and positive impact on the lives of students from under-resourced communities,” said Court. “We are thrilled to welcome her to the team.”

Carter is a skilled executive leader with more than 20 years of financial, management and strategic operations experience in the public accounting, private healthcare and nonprofit sectors. Throughout her career, she has driven meaningful impact through process improvements, financial transparency, mentoring and team building.   

With a shared commitment to empowering students through education, Carter joins TGR Foundation from the University of California, Irvine after an impactful tenure across several senior finance roles, most recently serving as associate vice chancellor and CFO of University Advancement and Alumni Relations. Before relocating to the West Coast and starting her nonprofit journey at United Way of Greater Los Angeles, she spent the first decade of her career in audit and finance positions at Arthur Andersen and APS Healthcare in Maryland.

Carter graduated from Morgan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and later earned an executive MBA from the University of California, Irvine.

Based in Tustin, California, Carter will work in the organization’s national headquarters, located in Irvine. She will lead a cross-functional team of finance, human resources, operations and IT staff that provide ongoing support to TGR Learning Labs across the country.
