With proceeds from The Genesis Invitational benefitting TGR Foundation, the flagship TGR Learning Lab will bring the award-winning curricula and hands-on activities to Family Village throughout the tournament. Located near three green and 15 tee, the TGR Learning Lab powered by CDW, Microsoft Surface and Tech Fore! Kids has activities planned for youth of all ages.

The TGR Learning Lab staff gathered for a photo before students flocked to Family Village during the 2019 tournament.

With a focus on technology, creativity and friendly competition, the TGR Learning Lab will facilitate STEM lessons and enrichment activities Wednesday-Saturday of the tournament. From photo booth fun to a series of challenges, youth of all ages will be engaged.

“We’re excited to bring the TGR Learning Lab back to Los Angeles during tournament week this year, said Dr. Katherine Bihr, Vice President of Programs and Education, TGR Foundation. “It’s always a great opportunity to expose students to the skills and resources offered by the Foundation that encourage exploration and the pursuit of their passions through education.”

The Tower Challenge introduces students to the engineering design process and allows them to use their creativity to build a freestanding tower on a single block. The student above attempts to break the record using a tower built with wooden cubes and sticks.

2020 marks the fourth year the tournament has been managed by TGR Live and the first with elevated status on the PGA TOUR. Since 2017, having the presence of the TGR Learning Lab is critical to showcasing the work being done to advance educational opportunities for underrepresented youth in Southern California and beyond.

“We’re grateful for the support of our generous sponsors who recognize the importance of education in all that we do,” added Bihr. “Through The Genesis Invitational and the kindness from all who join us throughout the week we’re able to empower more youth through our education programs. That’s the biggest win for us.”
