The TGR Learning Lab is fortunate enough to have volunteers and staff who love students and are willing to go to any lengths to make sure they succeed. This month, we would like to recognize someone who is not officially a volunteer, but who puts in as much time and heart into our programs as any other volunteer would.
Anita Patten is an individual who comes to support one student in particular, but can be found regularly helping all of our students. She has been coming to the TGR Learning Lab for three years helping Caroline, and along the way, has managed to motivate and inspire many other students as well. Anita can be found regularly working with Caroline and others in the Expanded Learning Program. You’ll find her helping out in a variety of classes from Intro to Hip Hop to Fitness and Nutrition and our golf class, Smooth Swings.
She quickly became popular amongst both students and staff because of her willingness to help out when needed and her desire to create change in students’ lives.
When asked what she enjoys most about working with children and youth, Anita lit up and responded, “Everything!”
She loves seeing the lightbulb moments and watching students light up when they finally understand something. Anita has extensive volunteer experience, both with students and without. In her limited spare time, she enjoys walking her two Great Danes, gardening and listening to music.
We are so thankful for all of our volunteers and individuals who come in every day to impact our students’ lives in a positive way. We at the TGR Learning Lab are proud to recognize Anita Patten as our November Volunteer of the Month!
