In honor of National Volunteer Week, we would like to point the spotlight on the hundreds volunteers that have served alongside us since the launch of the TGR Learning Lab in 2006. Our volunteers have been crucial to our success thus far and we are grateful to each individual that has committed countless hours to our students and programs.
TGR EDU: Explore lesson prepares students for scholarship application process
The college application process is multi-faceted. For many students deciding which institution to attend is a challenge that is often coupled with how they will fund their education and other associated expenses.Although there are numerous resources and options for financial aid, many teens and families don’t know where to begin. TGR EDU: Explore aims to reduce the gap in financial aid and access to higher education by addressing scholarships as a critical element of the application process. It’s latest college-access lesson, Scholarship Case Study: Reducing the Gap, guides educators as they reverse the roles of students to help them learn best practices for college applications and how to implement them.
TGR Foundation advances educational innovation at CEESA Conference
Working toward its goal to reach millions of students through education, TGR Foundation recently had the opportunity to present at the 29th annual Central and Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA) conference in Warsaw, Poland. The theme, Making the World our Classroom: One Less Brick in the Wall, was a clarion call to participants hailing from 50 countries and 70 schools, to remove barriers and focus efforts on developing a more relevant and globally-centric approach to education.

TGR Foundation selected to strengthen national K-16 STEM education, outreach
TGR Foundation is excited to announce a partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to drive forward its mission to encourage students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The Department of Defense’s recently-launched Defense STEM Education Consortium (DSEC) will strengthen kindergarten through college STEM education and outreach programs across the United States.

Celebrating Women’s History Month, Regina Honu
In celebration of Women’s History Month, we’re proud to honor female pioneers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) who have paved the way for other women to learn, grow and lead in tomorrow’s workforce.
Recognizing the importance of quality STEM education and gaps in underrepresented communities, we recently expanded our programs to reach students and educators around the world. The summer of sophomore year can be a very difficult time in the life of the average college student. Between choosing a discipline and finding a career, there is an overwhelming amount of pressure on the student to find a project that will help them further their professional goals. For many, summer plans usually involve taking on internships, doing research or enrolling in summer courses while others decide to work or take trips around the world. During the summer of my sophomore year at the University of California, Berkeley, I had the privileges of doing a little bit of both.
