TGR Foundation recently selected five local students to join its 2025-26 Orange County cohort of Earl Woods Scholars.
The Earl Woods Scholar Program was created in 2006 to honor the vision and spirit of the late Earl Woods, Tiger’s father and mentor. In addition to academic excellence, scholars accepted into the program demonstrate a commitment to service, aligned with the Woods family legacy of sharing and caring.
The scholars were chosen from a competitive pool of applicants who were nominated by teachers and school counselors. The cohort includes
- Daniela, Katella High School
- Genesis, Savanna High School
- Leena, Western High School
- Luis, Anaheim High School
- Diego, Cabrillo Point Academy
As the students enter the final year of their high school career, the Program will support them through higher education processes from choosing the right college fit, navigating the admissions process, securing financial aid and more.
“We’re thrilled to welcome these students to our Earl Woods Scholar family,” said Cristina Fernández, vice president of programs, TGR Foundation. “We could see from the applications and in-person interviews what this cohort will do for each other as peers in addition to the support we will provide through the program. We look forward to working with them toward their college and career goals.”
The renewable scholarship holds one of the highest graduation rates among scholarship programs in the country and supports students throughout their four years in college and beyond. The Orange County cohort is one of five regions including Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Pa, and the Washington, D.C.-Maryland-Virginia that are supported by the program.
