After a final round that came right down to the wire, Chris Kirk carded a final-round 66 to win the 2014 Deutsche Bank Championship and move into first place in the FedEx Cup Rankings.

When Chris Kirk stepped onto the first tee box this morning, he sat in a tie for third place with Rory McIlroy and Jason Day at 10 strokes under par. At the end of the Labor Day finish, however, Kirk won the 2014 Deutsche Bank Championship by two strokes, turning in a 5-under-par round and beating out Geoff Ogilvy, Billy Horschel and Russell Henley, who began the day in sole possession of first place, by two strokes.

McIlroy, who finished the championship at -11, posted a 1-under-par round, while notables including Martin Kaymer (-10), Day (-10), Carl Pettersson (-9), Jimmy Walker (-9), Bill Haas (-9) and Webb Simpson (-9) rounded out the top of the leaderboard.

With this victory that ended on an absolutely perfect New England evening, Kirk moves into first place in the FedEx Cup Rankings as the Ppayoffs continue at the BMW Championship at Cherry Hills CC in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, next weekend.

Following the win, Kirk spoke to the media about his performance and hopes of making the U.S. Ryder Cup team.
