TGR Foundation celebrates Women’s History Month, Chief Operating Officer

With a vision of a world where opportunity is universal and potential is limitless, TGR Foundation celebrates Women’s History Month. We are proud of the many women on our team who help us empower youth through education. 

Jin Choi Thatcher has served the Foundation for more than 20 years and was recently named chief operating officer. With humble beginnings in Orange County and a Korean American heritage, Thatcher has a passion for helping under-resourced communities. As a first-generation high school and college graduate who worked hard and maximized resources to fund her education, she is a proud alumna of Western High School and the University of California, Irvine.  

TGR Foundation seeks new CEO in collaboration with Nolan Partners

TGR Foundation is seeking a visionary Chief Executive Officer with a dynamic background to lead its strategic direction moving forward. Executive search firm Nolan Partners has been retained to assist in the search for its next CEO.

Nolan Partners is a globally recognized leader in executive placement with experience collaborating with leading brands and organizations in sports and entertainment to place candidates in high-level executive positions. The firm will lead the search for TGR Foundation whose mission is to empower students to pursue their passions through education.

TGR Foundation and TGR Design to partner with the Cobbs Creek Foundation in community development project

TGR Foundation and TGR Design are partnering with the Cobbs Creek Foundation to enhance access to education and golf in Philadelphia through the new Cobbs Creek campus. The campus will support the community through innovative education programs and opportunities to empower youth to discover and achieve their fullest potential.

Through the partnership, TGR Foundation will operate a TGR Learning Lab, providing youth from the region access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, college preparation and career readiness programs.

Genesis, Genesis Inspiration Foundation commit $1M to TGR Foundation, STEAM education

Genesis Gives, the corporate social responsibility initiative of Genesis Motor North America, and the Genesis Inspiration Foundation announced their commitment of $1 million to TGR Foundation to advance science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) education for youth over the next five years at the TGR Learning Lab. Part of this partnership will include learning opportunities for students from TGR Foundation at the Genesis Design Studio. Ceremonial checks were presented to the organization during The Genesis Invitational at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California.  

DoD STEM, TGR Foundation announce third cohort of national educator ambassadors

Department of Defense grant

After a rigorous selection process, TGR Foundation and DOD STEM, recently announced its third cohort of DoD STEM Ambassadors with 22 STEM educators from across the country. Bringing decades of experience, the ambassadors will share and support the DoD’s educational outreach efforts through the Defense STEM Education Consortium (DSEC).  TGR Foundation began managing the collaborative partnership between academia, industry, not-for-profit organizations and government in 2021 and will continue to lead the program for a second year. The DOD STEM Ambassador program aims to broaden STEM literacy and develop a diverse and agile workforce with the technical excellence to defend our nation.

2022 Year In Review: The Relaunch of Our People, Programs and Spaces

2022 was a year of transition and renewal. Our goal was to relaunch TGR Foundation, with a focus on our people, programs, and spaces. As I reflect on this past year, I am filled with a sense of gratitude for having students back in the renovated TGR Learning Lab and for the community members who stepped forward in joining our mission and vision for the future.

Champion Spotlight: Alma Gutierrez

Empowered by her experiences as a TGR Learning Lab alumna and first-generation college graduate, Alma Gutierrez has been a champion for students navigating their college and career journeys through TGR Foundation’s Earl Woods Scholar Program for the last six years.

What started as a visit to the Learning Lab with her golf team at Western High School turned into a decade of involvement that helped Alma change the trajectory of her life and her family’s legacy.

While preparing for the relaunch of the flagship TGR Learning Lab, Alma reflected on her journey and the foundation’s impact on her life.

NSPA recognizes TGR Foundation as Scholarship Provider of the Year for Earl Woods Scholar Program

The National Scholarship Providers Association announced TGR Foundation as its 2022 Scholarship Provider of the Year during its annual conference on Thursday, October 21.  

Highlighting the success of the Earl Woods Scholar Program, which launched in 2006 to honor the legacy of Tiger Woods’ father, the late Earl Woods, the program supports students from under-resourced communities through financial aid, yearly workshops, a dedicated mentor throughout their college journeys and a host of resources.
