25 Years of Impact: How TGR Foundation helped me soar into an aviation career
Growing up I was always fascinated by how things worked. I was the kid that took apart the remote control and put it back together again. My parents knew early on that if my hands were busy, so was my mind. And they knew I came alive when I was working with my hands.
Sometimes, when my mom was off from work, she’d take me to a science store in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, across the river from our home in Philadelphia. I’d leave with some sort of D.I.Y. kit, like a baking soda volcano or a robot making set.
My dad was on the road a lot, working as a truck driver, but when he’d come round, we’d sit for hours and build RC model planes. And sometimes, if we finished early enough, we’d head over to the airport, park the car and sit for hours, watching the planes take off and land. It never got old.
Staring up into the sky, with my dad by my side and airplanes overhead, I knew, even as an eight-year-old kid from Philly, that I would be a pilot one day.
I’m 21-years-old now, and nearly one year into my eighteen-month program at flight mechanic school. I’m excited about what awaits me after I graduate, but the road to get where I am today was not always clear or easy.

How College Bound Academy helped me overcome self-doubt and realize my potential
Currently a senior at John F. Kennedy High School, 16-year Christian Seong has a lot on his plate – and he likes it that way. When he’s not spending his free time thrift shopping or drawing, Christian keeps himself active and involved at school, and currently serves as the Associated Student Body President. Christian is also the Program Choir President of the Kennedy Singers and the co-President/co-Founder of the Humanitarian Resource Association as well as the John F. Kennedy High School Humanitarian Resource Association Branch Club. This summer, Christian participated in TGR Foundation’s virtual College Bound Academy (CBA) program, where he received the college guidance and support he was looking for. 25 Years of Impact: How TGR Foundation is achieving Tiger Woods’ vision through digital programs
With TGR Learning Lab campuses and the renowned Earl Woods Scholar Program impacting students across the country, TGR Foundation had established itself as a leader in STEM education and college-access by 2016. In spite of countless student success stories at that time, our founder, Tiger Woods, wanted to achieve more and set a goal to reach millions of students around the world. To reach that goal – in years, not decades – TGR Foundation began working to build a digital presence from the ground up.
We started by asking driving questions including and them with the launch of TGREDUExplore.org, a free platform developed in partnership with Discovery Education.
Launched in 2006, the TGR Learning Lab has reached more than 150,000 students through its award-winning STEM curriculum. Serving students in grades 5-12 in Anaheim, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Stuart, FL, our unique culture fosters development of the whole person while providing critical STEM skills and college prep.
With one of the highest graduation rates in the country, the Earl Woods Scholar Program is designed to help first-generation scholars thrive in college and beyond. Encompassing mentorships, internships and career building, the program boasts a one-to-one philosophy that has helped nearly 150 recipients attend top universities around the country.
Recently launched, tgreduexplore.org recreates the Learning Lab experience and curriculum via a dynamic digital platform developed in partnership with Discovery Education. By creating nationwide access to our programs, we will impact millions, offering teachers quality curriculum and introducing students to options for college and STEM careers.
TGR EDU: Create is focused on changing the way STEM is taught in our classrooms by providing professional development opportunities in STEM education through innovative lesson design. With hands-on, project-based learning activities, educators explore strategies that will enhance their curricula and prepare their students for future STEM careers.

Chairman Mike Mckee Keeps TGR Foundation up to Par
During his tenure at TGR Foundation, McKee has helped create and grow the foundation’s flagship educational facility, he’s mentored and sponsored a student throughout college, and has provided seed funding for a new initiative that aims to pair students with local companies in internship opportunities. Gordon McNeill: A Champion of Education
At Sage Hill School in Newport Beach, Gordon McNeill climbed from dean of students to head of school and, finally, to president, helping build up the young campus and its culture.
But, after 19 years, McNeill decided it was time for a new challenge.
Last August, he accepted a position as president and CEO of the Irvine-based TGR Foundation, one of famed golfer Tiger Woods’ charities, which works to bring educational opportunities to underserved youths through STEM classes, college-access programs and professional development courses for teachers, both through in-person and virtual sessions.
Tiger Woods’ Charity Teams with Find your Grind
TGR Foundation, a Tiger Woods charity, has teamed up with Find Your Grind Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Los Angeles-based self-discovery and career exploration platform, Find Your Grind. The multi-year partnership brings together two organizations with a shared mission to help young people discover who they are, identify their strengths and interests, and offer multiple pathways to personal and professional success.
Tiger Woods’ TGR Foundation hits notable milestone as it celebrates its 25th anniversary
As far as golf goes, Riviera Country Club has not been friendly to Tiger Woods. At least, not as friendly as other golf courses—he does have a runner-up and seven other top-20 finishes at this kikuyu-covered gem, but he’s played 13 tournaments here and left without the trophy 13 times. It’s the most starts he’s made in a single PGA Tour event without a victory.
Woods’ relationship with Riv, however, extends much deeper than a scorecard. It’s where he made his first tour start, as a rail-thin 16-year-old in 1992. It’s a traffic-dependent hour away from where Tiger honed his game, at the Navy Golf Course in Cypress. And since 2017 it has hosted his event, the Genesis Invitational, which has coincided with major growth for his TGR Foundation.
Tiger Woods' TGR Foundation Celebrates Two Big Milestones in Quest to Help Students
Tiger Woods is hosting the world's best golfers in Los Angeles at the Genesis Invitational, and while Tiger is recovering from another back surgery, the spotlight is still shining on his TGR Foundation, which is celebrating two milestones.
The Foundation is turning 25 years old and has now impacted over two million students, many in Southern California.

Teachers learn how to teach science through inquiry
Bryan and Montell were two of six teachers who attended a professional development session on Tuesday, part of a weeklong workshop in math and science instruction called STEM Studio, run by the TGR Foundation.
The teachers were from a variety of schools, grades, and experience. One taught science at Sheridan Elementary School, another taught high school students, and another will just start teaching in the fall.
USADF and TGR Foundation Partner to Support African STEM Education Entrepreneurs
The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF), the U.S. Government’s African enterprise agency, and TGR Foundation – A Tiger Woods Charity, announced today a joint venture to support African education entrepreneurs.
Working together in support of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, USADF has sponsored three promising educational entrepreneurs to take part in TGR Foundation’s 10-day long educator professional development program, TGR EDU: Create’s International STEM Studio, this summer. In partnering with USADF, TGR Foundation is able to expand their education training platform throughout Africa.
TGR Foundation Helps Students Through College Admissions
While Tiger Woods challenges his legacy on the golf course, his legacy is being reaffirmed in Anaheim.
Woods established TGR Foundation in 1996 to provide underprivileged children with resources to help improve their college readiness. He later created TGR Learning Lab in Anaheim, which is not far from where he grew up.
The Learning Lab takes an emphasis in science and promotes fields such as engineering and technology. Since its inception, the Learning Lab has helped more than 150,000 children.
